TRANSRECTAL ULTRASOUND
Dr. Alaa Meshref is one of the first doctors in Egypt to undergo transrectal US (TRUS) to diagnose prostate and male genital diseases. He first started TRUS in the Urology Dept. of Cairo University in 1989.
PROSTATE BIOPSIES
Dr. Alaa Meshref performs TRUS-guided prostate biopsies since 1989 and is the most experienced in the country having performed more than 25,000 cases. Currently, we also perform cognitive fusion biopsies after multiparametric MRI of the prostate.
UROFLOWMETRY
Both clinics are also equipped with uroflowmetry machines to measure the urine flow of male patients. This helps to check if there is obstruction to the urine outflow in cases of benign enlargment of the prostate and urethral strictures.

ENDOSCOPY FOR PROSTATE
Dr. Alaa Meshref is a pioneer in endoscopic procedures to remove enlarged prostates and bladder tumors, as well as endoscopic treatment of urethral strictures.
ENDOSCOPY FOR STONES
Dr. Alaa Meshref has a vast experience in endocopy for urinary calculi including flexible ureteroscopy and lasers. He treated many cases with kidney, ureter and bladder calculi.
UROLOGIC SURGERY
Dr. Alaa Meshref has performed a wide variety of open surgical procedures to treat different urologic disease, whether complex cases of stones or tumors of the urinary tract.
Dr. Meshref performs robotic surgery – mainly robotic radical prostatectomy – at robosurge centre within El-Shorouk Hospital of Cleopatra group
Robotic radical prostatectomy is performed using the Versius robot from CMR. This facilitates preservation of functional outcomes while maintaining best oncological control.
